EAGLE SCOUT AWARD
2015
Being in the Boy Scouts was a very important part of my childhood. I learned the importance of integrity, and began developing the leadership and followership skills which I keep honing as I continue to learn. For my Eagle Scout Project I designed and built a rock wall for the playground of a local daycare, which involved researching construction regulations, analyzing a simple A-frame design using AutoCAD, sourcing materials from sponsors and vendors, and leading my troop through the build and installation process. The rock wall is still being used by the community today.

The design included welded angle-iron anchors to ensure that the structure wouldn't move after a lifetime of kids playing on it.

We had to be careful not to penetrate the plastic barrier when moving the playground mulch.
